Pay attention, gorehounds because this one is for you. Today brings a new red-band trailer for director Michael Leavyโs Stream, which hits theaters later this month. It looks like a very bloody affair, to put it mildly. That makes sense as it hails from the producers of Terrifier 2 and the upcoming Christmas-themed Terrifer 3. It also features special effects makeup by Damien Leone, director of the Terrifier films. That is all very evident on screen as this teaser is overflowing with bloody mayhem. Check it out.ย
This is an admittedly short trailer, but one that packs a very deadly punch. We donโt get a big sense of the story but, in essence, it looks like people are thrown into some sort of deadly game for the entertainment of others. That is punctuated by the tagline at the end of the trailer which reads, โBlood on the ground means points on the board.โ Perfect. No notes. Thereโs also the tagline on the poster, which you can check out below that states, โPut some skin in the game.โ The one thing that is clear from the trailer? Leavy and Leone pulled no punches. The synopsis for the film reads as follows:ย
โWhen Roy and Elaine Keenan realize their family is drifting apart, they decide that something needs to be done. Roy forces his work to take a back seat and they seize the opportunity to recreate a vacation from their past. A peaceful stay in a quaint hotel is just what they need, however that is not what is in store for them. With four deranged murderers patrolling the seemingly mundane halls, the odds are definitely not in the Keenan family's favor. Roy must fight for his life and those of his family as their simple weekend getaway truly turns into a vacation to die for.โ
The cast is made up largely of horror legends including Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Tony Todd (Candyman), Danielle Harris (Halloween Kills), Dee Wallace (Critters), Tim Reid (It), Mark Holton (Leprechaun Returns), Felissa Rose (Victor Crowly), David Howard Thornton (Terrifier 2), Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination), Dave Sheridan (The Devilโs Rejects) and Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses). For genre lovers, that is one heck of an ensemble, to be certain.ย
Itโs unclear how wide the theatrical release is going to be but this one is indeed going to theaters this month. That makes sense, given the surprise breakout success of Terrifier 2 a couple of years ago. Why not see if that same crowd will get behind this one?
Stream is set to hit theaters on August 21. For more, read about how Art the Clown became horrorโs new it-boy.ย
