One of Stephen Kingโ€™s many side projects is transforming into a novel proper. Bad Hand Books has announced that theyโ€™ll be publishing a novel version of the authorโ€™s post-apocalyptic newspaper The End Times, which he co-writes with fellow author Ben Percy, early next year.

Set in an eerily familiar version of the future where the world is struggling to begin again after a deadly pandemic, The End Times is a serial project that puts readers into the shoes of Mary Poole, a small-town Minnesota resident who revives an old printing press and publishes the titular newspaper. She quickly draws in new writers โ€” including Richard Bachmanโ€™s widow Claudia Inez Bachman, if you know you know โ€” but also discovers that a sinister agenda is at work in her town that will change it forever, and likely for the worse.ย

โ€œThe End Times is a deeply dystopian story with concerning similarities to the threats that America faces today,โ€ says Bad Hand Booksโ€™ Doug Murano. โ€œThe series tackles misinformation and the vital role media presented in good faith has within a vulnerable population. Itโ€™s exciting to bring this important story to an even wider audience through a full-length novel in a time where we need stories like this more than ever.โ€ย

The End Times: Volume One will present the full text of the serialized newspaper printed in a traditional 8.5โ€ x 11โ€ novel size, as well as exclusive material that will appear only in the collected version. A dollar from each book purchased directly through Bad Hand is also being donated to mutual aid efforts in Minnesota, supporting rebuilding communities after its occupation by ICE.ย

A hardcover version of The End Times: Volume One hits shelves in early 2027, and is available for pre-order now on Bad Hand Booksโ€™ website.ย
