Another October creeps closer, and with it comes yet another Justin Long-starring film about young people making terrible decisions because theyโre bored. Paramount just dropped the trailer for Spin the Bottle, yet another tale of what happens when someone plays a game with forces out of their control.
As with recent hits like Talk to Me, Spin the Bottle sees a group of teens messing with supernatural forces they donโt understand โ better known as โtypical teenagers in a horror movie behavior.โ But instead of a porcelain hand that opens a door to the afterlife, the talisman of choice is, of course, a glass bottle, used to play the classic game of peer pressure and spit-swapping. It looks innocent, but as is the usual with teenagers who decide to mess with death, a dark cloud soon falls over them, slowly consuming the group one by one.
Whatโs worse is that one of them is connected to a massacre that plagued the town years before, making him the primary suspect of the destruction wrought by simple childish antics. But is he really connected to the evil released by the bottle, or is he simply being used? And when will people learn to stop messing with dusty old stuff they find in their basement?
Spin the Bottle is one of a number of upcoming horror joints from Paramount, who are premiering the Rosemaryโs Baby prequel Apartment 7A at Fantastic Fest this month, as well as releasing the sequel to Smile in October, and sequels to A Quiet Place and the Scream reboot sometime in 2025. It stars Tanner Stine, Kaylee Kaneshiro, Tony Amendola, Ryan Whitney, Hal Cumpston, Angela Halili, and Samantha Cormier, with appearances from Ali Larter and Justin Long. The film is directed by Gavin Wiesen from a script by John Cregan.
Spin the Bottle hits digital platforms on October 4. Check out the new trailer below:
