In case you missed it, FANGORIA is partnering with Paramount Scares to bring one of Tim Burton’s best films back to the big screen for two nights only. Celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary, Sleepy Hollow is playing on October 13 and 16 in a theater near you, once again bringing to life the chilling tale of a mysterious man who haunts a sleepy New England town.
Released in 1999, Burton’s take on the Washington Irving tale stars Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane, investigating a mysterious set of beheadings in the titular village. Bewitched by a young woman (Christina Ricci) with ties to the crimes (that may or may not be supernatural in nature), it’s not long before he’s dragged into a world he does not understand, in over his head and fighting to keep it on his shoulders all the while.
The classic Gothic tale also stars Miranda Richardson and Michael Gambon, as well as Richard Griffiths, Ian McDiarmid, Michael Gough, and Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman himself, with a score by none other than Burton’s frequent collaborator and former Oingo Boingo member Danny Elfman. Burton’s ninth outing as director, the film originally grossed over $200 million at the global box office and was nominated for three Academy Awards, winning Best Art Direction for Rick Heinrichs and Peter Young, and marks his third collaboration with Depp, after Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood.
Sleepy Hollow is one of many titles offered as a part of Paramount Scares’ label, which offers up titles from the studio’s long history for horror fans to experience, both in theaters and at home. With titles ranging from A Quiet Place and Smile to Scream and Rosemary’s Baby, they’re certainly one hell of a destination for your Halloween fix this season.
Sleepy Hollow will return to the big screen on October 13 and 16. Tickets are available now, and can be purchased here. Check out the film’s anniversary trailer below:
