It's been a long four years since Konami revealed Silent Hill: Townfall, with scarcely an update since the first Silent Hill Transmission event all the way back in 2022. Now, at today's PlayStation State of Play event and the following Transmission, more of the psychological horror game has surfaced – and it looks like it's going to be well worth the wait.
Developed by Observation‘s Screen Burn, formerly known as No Code, and published by Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive (Stray),ย Silent Hill: Townfallย is set to release later this year. Described as a “unique take” on the DNA of the survival horror series,ย Silent Hill: Townfallย follows Simon Ordell, a troubled man called back to the Scottish island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right':
He encounters a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface.
The game appears to be making good on Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto's promise that Konami was looking to launch the series globally, as Townfall is inspired by the Screen Burn's team connections to Scotland and especially the east coast.
In trueย Silent Hill fashion,ย Townfall has a whole lot of fog, a whole lot of monsters, and a protagonist who seems to be going through a whole lot of trauma. In short, it looks like return to the classicย Silent Hill archetype popularized by 2001'sย Silent Hill 2. However, in an unusual change for the series, Townfall puts players in a first-person perspective, with new peeking game mechanic and a CRTV take on the classic radio that Simon can use to avoid enemies.
Following the success of Bloober's Silent Hill 2 Remake, and the newest original mainline series entry Silent Hill fย (although the less said about Christophe Gans' Return to Silent Hill, the better),ย hype and hope is high for another terrifying Silent Hill game. Withย Townfall, plus Bloober Team's upcomingย Silent Hill 1 remake, could it be that we're finally in Silent Hill renaissance after many years of poorly received titles? Fingers crossed.
Silent Hill: Townfall is now available to wishlist for PlayStation 5, Steam and Epic Games Store. Check out the full trailerย below, and for more, here's some of the other horror games we're excited for still to come in 2026.
