The film premieres on Shudder on April 11.
Shadow of God

Most of us have people weโ€™ve lost that we wish we could get back in some way or another. But what would we do if they came backโ€ฆwrong? Thatโ€™s the premise behind Shadow of God, a new Shudder original film about what happens when a priest returns to his hometown, only to have something strange manifest in someone he loves. If youโ€™re curious, the streamer has just dropped the first trailer for the Catholic horror, and itโ€™s definitely a doozy.

The latest in a long line of exorcism-themed horror films, Shadow of God stars Mark Oโ€™Brien, Jacqueline Byers, and Shaun Johnston, and hails from director Michael Peterson. The filmโ€™s logline is as follows:

When several of his fellow Vatican exorcists are simultaneously killed, Father Mason Harper returns to his childhood home to spend time with childhood friend while he awaits orders from the Church. However, this small town holds dark secrets about Mason's past and the religious organization once run by his father, Angus. Thought dead, Angus reappears, forcing a reunion between father and son. But Angus is different now, and before long, Mason suspects heโ€™s possessed, not by the devil, but by somethingโ€ฆ holy. When Mason attempts to exorcise the presence from his father, he sets off a chain of events that may end in a cataclysm of biblical proportions testing everything he holds sacred.

Shadow of God is one of several films making its premiere on Shudder in April as part of their Halfway to Halloween celebrations. It joins films like 825 Forest Road, from the minds behind Hell House LLC, as well as Dead Mail and the Irish-language horror Frรฉwaka, alongside Season 7 of The Last Drive-in With Joe Bob Briggs and a number of repertory favorites.
