Sam Raimi’s newest film Send Help hits digital next week, but before it does, we’re here to give you a little sneak peek into how the Evil Dead icon made it all happen. FANGORIA is excited to partner with 20th Century Studios to debut an exclusive clip from the film’s bonus features, which will be available when the film hits rental platforms on March 24.
Our exclusive clip breaks down one of Send Help’s most harrowing scenes: the moment when the plane carrying Linda Liddle and her boss Bradley crashes over the Pacific Ocean. Rachel McAdams reveals that they shot inside a real private jet and that it was “really terrifying” for her, but the real gem comes when Raimi reveals that he was the one who splashed his star with the wave of water that crashes over her when the plane hits the ocean — because, as he puts it, “No one does it as well as me.” Damn right.
Send Help also stars Dylan O’Brien as Linda’s boss who winds up stranded with her on a deserted island, injured and reliant on a woman he severely underestimated. Written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift with music by frequent collaborator Danny Elfman, the film is Raimi’s first in four years, and his first proper horror film since he released Drag Me to Hell in 2009.
While he doesn’t have anything else in the works as a director, Raimi is also producing a number of films, including a feature adaptation of the viral short Portrait of God alongside Jordan Peele. He’s also, of course, a producer on the two newest films in the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath, directed by Sébastien Vaniček and Francis Galluppi respectively.
Send Help arrives on digital on March 24.
