Finding self-actualization is probably the most impossible task any human being has ever tried to achieve. Itโ€™s probably not even possible, but plenty of shady figures in history have tried to suggest that they can get people there one way or another. Director Erik Bloomquist has conjured up yet another one of those shady dealers, and FANGORIA is excited to help premiere some new stills from his upcoming film, aptly titled Self-Help

Directed by Bloomquist from a script he wrote with Carson Bloomquist, Self-Help stars Jake Weber, Landry Bender, Madison Lintz, and Amy Hargreaves, and follows a young woman as she โ€œinfiltrates a dangerous self-actualization community after her mother becomes entangled with its enigmatic leader.โ€ The new stills give us an eerie sneak peek into the self-help cult, though it looks like anything but, with members dressed in what looks like the discount racks of an out-of-business Spirit Halloween. Surely that canโ€™t be good news for anyone trying to rescue their mother from danger.

Self-Help is Bloomquistโ€™s ninth feature film, having previously directed projects like Long Lost, Ten Minutes to Midnight, Weekenders, Night at the Eagle Inn, She Came From the Woods, and Intermedium. He also features as part of the cast of the film, expanding a resume that includes acting credits like Founders Day and High Heat with Don Johnson.

Self-Help will have its premiere at this yearโ€™s Chattanooga Film Festival, as part of its closing night celebrations on June 22. Bloomquist will be in attendance at the filmโ€™s premiere, which joins other films in the festivalโ€™s eccentric lineup like Fucktoys, The Zombies: Hung Up on a Dream, Queens of the Dead, Daughters of Evil, and more. Interested audiences can purchase tickets for the screening, as well as passes for the entire festival, on CFFโ€™s website
