SCARY MOVIE Reboot Set For June 2026 Theatrical Release

The sixth entry into the horror comedy franchise sees the Wayans Brothers returning to write and direct.

The Wayans Brothers' Scary Movie reboot has been officially set for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026 via Paramount and Miramax, Marlon Wayans confirmed on Instagram earlier today.

The sixth entry into the Scary Movie series sees the first time the Wayans have written an original script in 18 years. Rick Alvarez (White Chicks) is also writing and producing.

Plot and cast details for Scary Movie 6 are still mostly under wraps, although Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie‘s Officer Doofy) has confirmed that Ghostface will make a triumphant return to the horror parody, perhaps spoofing the Scream requels.

Regina Hall, who starred in Scary Movies 1 โ€“ 4 as Brenda Meeks, has teased a potential return. Whether Anna Faris will return as Cindy Campbell remains to be seen (but we're keeping everything crossed for the reunion of this hilarious duo!)

A defining horror comedy of the early aughts, the Scary Movie franchise originally ran for five movies, grossing a grand total of around $896 million worldwide. The series spoofed everything from classic slashers like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer to J-horrors like Ring and Ju-On

Check out Wayans' post below and stay tuned for more Scary Movie news as we get it.
