Fango alum Rebekah McKendry is cooking up something juicy for us horror fans. The professor-cum-director just wrapped production on her fourth feature film, Sundown, a feminist tale of survival and supernatural horror that’ll totally knock your socks off.
Starring Olwen Fouéré, Camille Sullivan, and Summer H. Howell, Sundown tells the tale of three women who reunite at a remote cabin to avenge the death of a loved one. But when they discover that their captive isn’t who he seems to be, all hell breaks loose as his “family” closes in, waiting to strike at sundown. McKendry directs from a script by Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry, with filming taking place in Winnipeg.
“Sundown was an incredible experience, from my amazing cast and producers to my DP and our fantastic crew,” McKendry said. “This film means a great deal to me, exploring the generational divide between three strong women confronting monsters both real and psychological. Even when we were running through the snow in -25 weather, the shoot was wonderful and unforgettable. I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

In a rather iconic twist of fate, the film is executive produced by music legend Slash, who joins the film via his BersekerGang label. “Sundown is great,” he says of the film. “It’s a super tense family vs monster tale that is as claustrophobic as it is terrifying.”
Sundown also stars Daniel Bernhardt, David Alpay, Kyle Mac, Elisa Paszt, David Ian McKendry, Junko Bailey, and Megan Best, and features special effects makeup from Patrick Baxter, and other effects from Creature Cabin and Steven Kostanski’s Action Pants FX. The film is produced by Pasha Patriki, Michael Paszt, Andrew Thomas Hunt, Juliette Hagopian, and James Fler.
“Sundown was a fantastic collaboration with director Rebekah McKendry,” Paszt said, “our phenomenal cast, Slash, and the teams at BerserkerGang, Raven Banner, Julijette and Hangar 18, and we’re thrilled to have brought this intense, atmospheric horror film to life in Winnipeg.”
No release date has been set for Sundown. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
