After five years of waiting, we finally know when weโre getting a sequel to the 2019 cult favorite Ready or Not. In a tweet announcing a wrap on production, Searchlight Pictures announced that the sequel, appropriately titled Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, will hit theaters on April 10, 2026.
After directing last yearโs Abigail, Radio Silence โ the duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett โ is back to direct the sequel to the 2019 film, with Weaving reprising her role as Grace, the young bride quickly turned widow after her fianceโs family drew a card in a deadly game that made her the target. (Too bad she got to everyone else first.) Newcomers to the film include Kathryn Newton and Kevin Durand, both of whom worked with Radio Silence on Abigail, as well as Shawn Hatosy, Nรฉstor Carbonell, Elijah Wood, scream queen Sarah Michelle Gellar, and David Cronenberg making a rare on-screen appearance.
As anyone whoโs kept an eye on horror for the last couple of years will know, this certainly isnโt Weavingโs first time in a horror franchise. In addition to the first Ready or Not, she also played a small role in Radio Silenceโs Scream VI, where she featured as Ghostfaceโs first victim of the film. Her extensive genre credits also include The Babysitter and its sequel, Killer Queen, Azrael, and this yearโs Borderline, as well as the Evil Dead television series, Ash vs. Evil Dead.
What Newtonโs role in Ready or Not 2 will be is anyoneโs guess, but Weavingโs definitely got some competition. Not only has Newton previously worked with Radio Silence on their vampire epic, but she also led last yearโs Lisa Frankenstein, a neon-colored take on Mary Shelleyโs classic, as well as Freaky, Christopher Landonโs 2020 body-swap slasher.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come hits theaters on April 10, 2026. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more details.
