While we’re still pretty sparse on details about Wyatt Russell’s upcoming Monarch: Legacy of Monsters spin-off, its cast seems to be filling out quite nicely. Deadline reports that three new cast members have joined the series, led by horror icon, Robert Eggers mainstay, and fan favorite character actor Ralph Ineson.
Ineson leads a trio that also includes Ant-Man alum Corey Stoll and Nyasha Hatendi. No details about what characters they’ll be playing have been released, but we do know that all three will be series regulars alongside Russell, who executive produces and returns to the small screen as the younger version of Lee Shaw.
Russell originated the role in the first Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which he stars in alongside his father Kurt Russell, who plays the same character in the twenty-first century. Led by showrunner Joby Harold, the synopsis for the untitled spin-off currently filming in Prague is as follows:
The series will follow the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who, in 1984, went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.
Not a terrible amount of detail, but enough to keep us enticed, along with Deadline’s reports that Harold is “developing multiple new series set within the franchise’s evolving universe, featuring both new and fan-favorite Titans for Apple TV, alongside producing partner Tory Tunnell.” This comes alongside the highly anticipated release of Godzilla x Kong: Supernova in 2027, the third crossover film featuring two of the most beloved kaiju of all time.
The untitled Lee Shaw series is executive produced by Harold and Tunnell alongside Russell, Chris Black, Kyle Bradstreet, Alex Boden, Dillard, Andy Goddard, and James Skotchdopoloe, as well as Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita on behalf of Toho.
