Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 is nearly here, and after a long buildup, we finally have our first look at the newest installment’s mechanics. Mob Entertainment has released a gameplay trailer for the game that joins the ranks of demented toy stories (no pun intended) alongside names like Child’s Play and Annabelle, and Playtime Co.’ is in worse shape than ever.
Originally released in 2021, the puzzle survival game allows players to step into the abandoned factory of Playtime Co., where monstrous, malicious toys are out for blood against everyone they encounter — including you. Three additional chapters were released in 2022, 2024, and 2025 respectively, with a film adaptation currently in development from Legendary Entertainment. Subtitled “Broken Things,” Chapter 5’s synopsis is as follows:
In Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 — “Broken Things,” players must prepare to face off against the deadly puppetmaster behind the horrifying events of Playtime Co’s dark past. Solve devious puzzles and overcome dangerous obstacles as the true rotten heart at the center of Playtime Co. draws nearer. Traverse this new realm of shadows in a fight for survival (and the truth) with Playtime’s security system, Huggy Wuggy, in hot pursuit and separated from your only allies. Will you finally end this nightmare, or fall victim to the puppet master’s twisted madness?
After a series of lore videos and a cinematic trailer were released over the course of the last month, this is the first time we’ve gotten a good look at exactly what playing the game will look like once it hits gaming platforms next week. Players will be able to solve various puzzles as they traverse the stomping grounds of The Prototype, a terrifying experiment capable of god knows what. They’ll also encounter tortured denizens of the factory living in the darkness, who may or may not be able to help in the quest to defeat The Prototype, and deal with dangerous new environmental obstacles keeping them from the center of the factory and Playtime’s greatest sins.
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 launches on PC on February 18, with console versions rolling out later this year. The game is available to wishlist now on Steam and Epic Games.
