The release of Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 is creeping closer, and with it, we’re getting plenty of hints about what to expect from the new game. A second mysterious video teasing new storylines has appeared, showcasing just what dangers await players when they download the PC game.
This is the second mysterious video to surface featuring lore from the upcoming game. Following one that showed off the experimental toy Catnap breaking free of its confines, this new video sees the scientist who’d been experimenting on it trapped together in their lab. As it becomes clear that rescue will never come with the new dangers in the building, they decide that trying to find their own exit route is the only option, only to immediately become separated and end up face-to-face with some of the horrors they created.
While it’s still not clear exactly how these videos connect to Chapter 5 and its lore, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on as we approach the February release date for the game. Subtitled “Broken Things,” Chapter 5’s synopsis is as follows:
In Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 — “Broken Things,” players must prepare to face off against the deadly puppetmaster behind the horrifying events of Playtime Co’s dark past. Solve devious puzzles and overcome dangerous obstacles as the true rotten heart at the center of Playtime Co. draws nearer. Traverse this new realm of shadows in a fight for survival (and the truth) with Playtime’s security system, Huggy Wuggy, in hot pursuit and separated from your only allies. Will you finally end this nightmare, or fall victim to the puppet master’s twisted madness?
Originally released in 2021, the puzzle survival game allows players to step into the abandoned factory of Playtime Co., where monstrous, malicious toys are out for blood against everyone they encounter — including you. Three additional chapters were released in 2022, 2024, and 2025 respectively, with a film adaptation currently in development from Legendary Entertainment.
Players will be able to solve various puzzles as they traverse the stomping grounds of The Prototype, a terrifying experiment capable of god knows what. They’ll also encounter tortured denizens of the factory living in the darkness, who may or may not be able to help in the quest to defeat The Prototype, and deal with dangerous new environmental obstacles keeping them from the center of the factory and Playtime’s greatest sins.
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 launches on PC on February 18, with console versions rolling out later this year. The game is available to wishlist now on Steam and Epic Games.
