Scream queen Paris Hilton (Nine Lives, House of Wax, Supernatural… yes, we're claiming her) is reteaming with Saw II, III and IV director Darren Lynn Bousman for Road to Reality, a new reality TV-themed horror satire feature.
Hilton will executive produce Bousman's Road to Reality via her company 11:11 Media, marking a reunion for the pair following the 2008 gothic rock opera (and modern day cult classic) Repo! The Genetic Opera, in which Hilton starred as surgery-addicted heiress Amber Sweet.
Per Deadline, who reported the news exclusively earlier today, Road to Reality is set in the “imploding world of a long-running reality television franchise” and will “take aim at a culture in which relevance is capital, identity is performance, and public collapse is repackaged as entertainment.” Bousman directs from a screenplay by Katina Nikou, with production due to start in July.
In an official statement, Bousman had the following to say about teaming up with Hilton again:
I couldn’t be more excited to re-team with Paris Hilton […] We’ve stayed close for over two decades, and when a script set in the world of reality TV landed in my hands, there was only one person I wanted in the trenches with me. Paris doesn’t just understand that world — she helped define it — and she’s always approached it with a sharp, subversive sense of humor that people underestimate. She’s fearless, unpredictable, and brings an energy that elevates everything around her.
Fingers crossed for a Hilton cameo in Road to Reality, or even an Amber Sweet one. Stay tuned.
