Veteran film editor Stefan Grube (10 Cloverfield Lane, Prey) is set to make his directorial debut with the ‘high concept sci-fi thriller' Out There, which has been picked up by Netflix.
Deadline, who reported the news earlier today, add that Out There‘s script was written by script is by Shane and Carey Van Dyke (Don't Worry Darling) and Ian Levy (Pay the Ghost.)
While Out There‘s full logline is currently under wraps, Deadline note that the movie, which is in the vein of A Quiet Place and Cloverfield, revolves around a fractured family who “must face the most catastrophic day of their lives.” While we're never one to presume here at FANGORIA, can we safely take a guess and assume this means aliens are involved in some way or another…?
Per Deadline, The Picture Company partners Alex Heineman & Andrew Rona will produce along with Josie Liang of Space Bandit. Nick Meyer of Sierra Pictures will serve as executive producer.
Having collaborated with directors like Dan Trachtenberg, Jason Reitman and J.J. Abrams, Grube is no stranger to the genre game, and we're certainly very intrigued to learn more about Out There.
We'll bring you the updates as they roll in.
