Inside No.9, the bizarre British black-comedy-horror anthology series from Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, has announced its full guest cast for the upcoming season, as well as a first look at one of the episodes.

The show, which is about to enter its eighth season, sees co-creators Shearsmith and Pemberton – most famously known for their work on The League of Gentleman – take on all manner of roles in segments which range from slapstick comedy to pure gothic horror – but all involving the number 9.

Alongside the creative duo, season 8 of the show will star some of the best of British television and film talent, including Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey), BAFTA-nominee Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), Amanda Abbington (Sherlock) and House of the Dragon’s Phil Daniels.

In an official statement, Shearsmith and Pemberton had this to say;

“We are thrilled to invite viewers inside a new set of funny and frightening number 9s; take your shoes off, make yourself at home and switch your devices to Do Not Disturb. Well, it might work…”

Radio Times have also revealed the first look at the new season (seen above), where we can see Shearsmith, Pemberton and Robin Askwith (Tower of Evil, Horror Hospital) looking straight off the set of a 1970s Brit sitcom. Famously, despite the obvious connotations, the show has always avoided the public transportation setting potentially out of concern that it wouldn’t make for the most thrilling of episodes. Shearsmith tweeted jokingly about finally giving in to fan’s demands:

Season 8 marks the penultimate series of the show, as Pemberton revealed that Season 9 would be an obvious and appropriate place to end (although possibly not forever).

Inside No. 9 is available to stream on BBC iPlayer, with the eighth season due to hit later this year.
