Get ready for a horror high at New Orleans’ Overlook Festival, as Ariel Vida’s cannabis chiller Trim Season will have its world premiere at the fest’s opening night on March 30th.

Trim Season is produced by Aaron B. Koontz’s Paper Street Pictures (Scare Package, Old Man, The Requin), and follows:

a group of diverse twenty-somethings from Los Angeles as they head up the coast to make quick cash trimming marijuana on a secluded farm in Northern California. Cut off from the rest of the world, they soon realize that the estate is harboring darker secrets than any of them could imagine, as they race against time to escape the dense woods with their lives.

The stoner scarefest stars Bethlehem Million (Sick), Alex Essoe (Midnight Mass), Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing), and Ally Ioannides (V/H/S/99). Jane Badler, Juliette Kenn De Balinthazy, Ryan Donowho, Cory Hart, Marc Senter and Paris Warner also star. Badler for MeJane Productions, Execution Style’s Sean E. DeMott and Hlbrk Ent’s Paul Holbrook produced alongside Paper Street.

Director Vida – who has worked as production designer on a number of films including She Dies Tomorrow and Benson and Moorhead’s Something In The Dirt – wrote the screenplay with David Blair, based on a story by Megan Sutherland, Cullen Poythress and DeMott. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, she teased a little more of what we can expect from the THC terror:

“Trim Season explores themes of power and agency, friendship and loss, all through a stylized lens brought to life by an amazing cast and crew that I couldn’t be more proud of and grateful for.”

There’s also an upcoming Trim Season comic for those who prefer their scares on paper.

If you’re heading to Overlook, make sure that Trim Season is on your radar. If you haven’t got your Overlook ticket yet, what are you waiting for? Have you not SEEN this lineup?
