With Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 hitting gaming platforms in just two weeks, we’re still getting hints about just what to expect from the newest chapter in the chilling saga. The final in a series of mysterious lore videos just dropped, pitting audiences up against the franchise’s scariest foe yet.
After the first two videos showed a Playtime Co. scientist finding herself trapped in the factory with a rogue experiment, we pick up with her as she runs frantically through the halls, lit only by a flashlight. She discovers a mangled experiment, only to slip and black out — and wake up under the the control of a monstrous experiment called The Prototype, who has gone rogue and starting turning the human workers of Playtime Co. into experiments of its own.
This final video gives us our best idea yet of what Chapter 5 will be like when it hits gaming platforms this month. Subtitled “Broken Things,” Chapter 5’s synopsis is as follows:
In Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 — “Broken Things,” players must prepare to face off against the deadly puppetmaster behind the horrifying events of Playtime Co’s dark past. Solve devious puzzles and overcome dangerous obstacles as the true rotten heart at the center of Playtime Co. draws nearer. Traverse this new realm of shadows in a fight for survival (and the truth) with Playtime’s security system, Huggy Wuggy, in hot pursuit and separated from your only allies. Will you finally end this nightmare, or fall victim to the puppet master’s twisted madness?
Originally released in 2021, the puzzle survival game allows players to step into the abandoned factory of Playtime Co., where monstrous, malicious toys are out for blood against everyone they encounter — including you. Three additional chapters were released in 2022, 2024, and 2025 respectively, with a film adaptation currently in development from Legendary Entertainment.
Players will be able to solve various puzzles as they traverse the stomping grounds of The Prototype, a terrifying experiment capable of god knows what. They’ll also encounter tortured denizens of the factory living in the darkness, who may or may not be able to help in the quest to defeat The Prototype, and deal with dangerous new environmental obstacles keeping them from the center of the factory and Playtime’s greatest sins.
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 launches on PC on February 18, with console versions rolling out later this year. The game is available to wishlist now on Steam and Epic Games.
