20 New Horror Movies Streaming On Shudder January 2026

The new year brings us all new Horror movies on Shudder, and the terror has only begun. This month, you have the newest horror film from The Adams Family, Mother of Flies, and the neo-noir frights of Joshua Erdman's A Desert. There's even a tantalizing documentary, Chain Reactions, directed by Alexandre O. Philippe (Doc of the Dead, Memory: The Origins of Alien, Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist), which examines the influential power of Tobe Hooper's masterpiece, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,ย on five different artists.ย 

Of course, you can expect a new episode of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, to open the year with a gory start, and an intriguing set of watch parties that will explore the lesser-known scary movies by director Bob Clarke, and a brand new terror tale, The Jester 2, paired with a haunting horror film from the 70s directed by Richard Attenborough, which is set for an upcoming remake produced by Sam Raimi.

    If there's one thing that you can always count on, it's an exciting new episode of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs each month, and that tradition will continue into 2026. Watch as Joe Bob and Darcy bring the drive-in roaring into 2026 with new double features that enhance the suspense for the eager audience, who want more gruesome gore and horror genre knowledge.
    The brand new episode premieres live on Friday, January 9, on Shudder TV, beginning at 9:00 P.M. ET / 6:00 P.M. PT. Just in case you were holed up in your winter cabin without power to escape from a Yeti, this episode debuts on-demand Sunday, January 11, and will be available in the United States and Canada.

    David Yow, Kai Lennox, and Sarah Lind star in director Joshua Erdman's eerie tale of a photographer with wanderlust who finds terrifying real-life horror in the vast spaces of the desert.ย  This neo-noir has twists and turns that you won't expect, as Harold Palladino is drawn deeper into a maze of torment, murder, and treachery, which then lures his girlfriend and a private investigator into the trap as well.ย

    Chain Reactions,ย  the documentary on one of the most legendary horror films ever made, examines the impact of the film on five different artists:ย Patton Oswalt, Takashi Miike, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Stephen King, andย Karyn Kusama. They tell their personal stories of how they discovered the film and how it influenced their lives and art, and the differences between watching the film on 16mm, 35mm, VHS tapes, and digitally. Yes, there is a difference.

    The documentary, written and directed byย Alexandre O. Philippe, examines the artistry of director and co-writer, Tobe Hooper, and co-writer Kim Henkel, and the crew and cast, and the far-reaching effect that this masterpiece has not only on the five artists, but the art of cinema itself.

    The family filmmaking collective The Adams Family is back with Mother of Flies. John Adams, Zelda Adams, and Toby Poser share filmmaking and acting duties with each film they have made. Mother of Flies is the eighth film they have made together after 2023's Where the Devil Roams, and once again returns to folk horror. A young woman, Mickey, seeks a cure for a terminal disease from a recluse, Solveig, who is rumored to have magic powers, with her father accompanying her.

    She endures three days of the woman's extreme rituals of death magic and realizes that she has only begun to pay the price for attempting to escape her fate.

    Meanwhile, in an isolated house in Monmouthshire, the wealthy Anchor-Ferrers family find themselves the victims of a psychopathโ€™s cruel games, trapped and terrorized. When the two narratives collide, itโ€™s a thrilling, nail-biting, and deeply disturbing race against time. Sacha Dhawan (Doctor Who), Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), and Sian Reese-Williams (Line of Duty) also star.
