Scream king Matthew Lillard is reportedly in talks for a role in Mike Flanagan's upcoming Carrie series, Deadline reveals today.
The eight-episode Amazon series based on Stephen King's 1974 debut novel has already cast Resident Evil star Siena Agudong as bully-turned-ally Sue Snell, with Summer H. Howell (Curse of Chucky) reportedly in talks for the role as the titular lead telekinetic.
Lillard's role is yet to be confirmed.
If the casting news turns out to be concrete, Carrie would mark a reunion between Lillard and Flanagan following this year's The Life of Chuck, another King adaptation set for release on June 6 via NEON. The pair also recently collaborated on Macabre Spirits, a Reposado tequila that comes with an 80-page novella written by Flanagan.
Flanagan's Carrie is described as:
โโฆa bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White (Howell), who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her fatherโs sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.โ
Horror mainstay Lillard will next be seen in Blumhouse's upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's sequel, and Kevin Williamson's upcoming Scream 7, where he'll (somehow!) be returning as original Ghostface Stu Macher.
Look out for more on Carrie as we get it.
