Hemlock Circle is bringing their latest slasher into your homes, and now, you can get an exclusive sneak peek behind the scenes at the making of it. Marshmallow, directed by Daniel DelPurgatorio, hits video on demand this Friday, June 6, and FANGORIA is excited to premiere some exclusive behind the scenes images from the filmโs production.
Marshmallow tells the tale of a young boy plagued by nightmares who heads to summer camp, only to be terrorized by a figure from a fireside legend come to life. Known only as โThe Doctorโ โ no, not the one who travels in a TARDIS โ the monster stalks the members of the camp Jason Voorhees style, and the film is a clear homage to all those that came before it, particularly the ones that helped make the camp slasher such a bonafide staple of horror. According to the filmโs logline, โMorgan and his newfound friends must embark on a perilous journey- one that will force them to confront their deepest fears and question the very nature of their existence.โ
The BTS images give us a great look at the filmโs goopy, gory effects, courtesy of the filmโs SFX masters Robert Kurtzman and Marcia “Marcy” King. The child stars of the film also get to take center stage, as the images offer a sneak peek of just what itโs like to make a horror movie when youโre barely old enough to learn about the birds and the bees.
Directed by DelPurgatorio in his feature debut, Marshmallow stars Giorgia Whigham (daughter of character actor Shea Whigham), Alysia Reiner, Kai Cech, and Corbin Bernsen, with a script by Andy Greskoviak. It arrives on demand on the heels of Hell of a Summer, directed by Stranger Things alum Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk, this yearโs other summer camp slasher paying homage to all the ill-fated teenagers of horror movies past.
Marshmallow arrives on VOD on June 6. Check out the exclusive images below:
