VICTORIAN PSYCHO: Margaret Qualley To Star As Mad Nanny In New Gothic Horror

SANCTUARY's Zachary Wigon will direct, with LONGLEGS' Dan Kagan on board to produce.
THE SUBSTANCE

Fresh off the success of Coralie Fargeat's The Substance, Margaret Qualley is set to headline another horror in Victorian Psycho, from director Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) and produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs).

Based on the novel Mrs. March from author Virginia Feito, who also wrote the script, Victorian Psycho follows:

Set in 1858, the film will follow a young, eccentric governess named Winifred Notty (Qualley) who arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. Winifredโ€™s responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their familyโ€™s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess.

Variety, who reported the news exclusively earlier today, also let us know that production on Victorian Psycho is set to begin in March 2025.

Victorian Psycho marks a reunion for Qualley and Wigon, who previously worked together on the psychosexual thriller Sanctuary with Christopher Abbott. Qualley expanded on her excitement:

Working with Zach [Wigon] again feels like a rare gift, and I canโ€™t wait to step into this twisted world heโ€™s created.

Wigon is just as excited, adding:

As soon as I discovered this thoroughly insane and unforgettable character, I knew I had to introduce moviegoers to Winifred Notty. I am beyond thrilled that the utterly fearless Margaret Qualley will be bringing this complex antihero to vivid life. Virginia Feitoโ€™s screenplay is an audacious blend of psychodrama, satire, gore and mystery. With horror aficionado producer Dan Kagan and the support of Anton and Anonymous, I cannot wait to make Victorian Psycho.

Alongside Wigon, Sebastien Raybaud (Greenland: Migration) in association with Anonymous Content will produce, and Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros will executive-produce.

Anton is launching Victorian Psycho ahead of next weekโ€™s American Film Market, and will fully finance and is representing international rights. U.S. rights are co-represented by Anton, UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance.
