Blumhouse is joining the Halfway to Halloween celebrations with a theatrical event like you’ve never seen before. The studio is partnering with New Line Cinema and Dolby Cinemas at AM to host a special one night only event celebrating Lee Cronin’s The Mummy before it hits theaters to terrify audiences around the country.
Fans in 47 cities across the country have the opportunity to snag tickets to see The Mummy on April 16 at 7pm, marking the first time Blumhouse has celebrated Halfway to Halloween with a first night premiere, rather than the traditional focus of bringing their catalogue back to theaters for a limited time. Fans in the following cities will get the chance to see the tale from beyond the grave in Dolby Vision before anyone else:
The full list of participating cities includes: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Harlingen, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Mobile, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, Tallahassee, Tampa, Tulsa, Washington D.C. and Wichita.

“I wanted to make a movie that gets under your skin in the most literal way possible,” Cronin said. “There are images in this film that are going to make you look away and not be able to stop looking at the same time. Experiencing that in Dolby, surrounded by a crowd who has no idea what’s coming, on opening night, will be unforgettable.”
Starring Jack Reynor and May Calamawy, Cronin’s take on the creature feature classic focuses on a family broken by grief when their young daughter disappears into the desert without a trace. But, when she returns eight years later — looking exactly the same, only discovered inside an ancient sarcophagus — she brings with her a living nightmare, and a curse that will haunt her entire family. The film also stars Laia Costa, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón, with Cronin directing from his own script.
“Horror fans don’t wait for Halloween,” said Jason Blum. “They live in it all year. This year we wanted to give them something they’ve never had from Halfway to Halloween: opening night! Lee Cronin made something genuinely disturbing and we want the people who love this genre to be the first ones inside the theater together.”
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy hits theaters on April 17. To purchase tickets for Blumhouse’s exclusive screening, you can check out AMC Theatres’ website.
