Kristen Stewart'sย Twilight years may be far behind her, but theย Love Lies Bleeding star wants to return to the smash hit vampire franchise, albeit in a very different way.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards, Stewart, who got her big break in 2008 when she starred as Bella Swan in Catherine Hardwicke's Twilight, the first adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling YA novel series of the same name, expressed an interest in getting behind the camera for aย Twilight remake:

โ€œI would love โ€” look. I love what Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love what Chris [Weitz] (New Moon) did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies […] They were so themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly, and just so present in that time when they didnโ€™t really know what they were yet, like before they blew up.โ€

Stewart recently made her directorial debut withย Chronology of Water, and teases that with “a huge budget and a bunch of love and support”, she would love to readapt the multi-million dollar making pic, asserting that โ€œYeah, sure, Iโ€™ll do the remake. Iโ€™m doing it! Iโ€™m committed!โ€ We'll hold you to that, Kristen.

With the Twilightย film franchise's twentieth anniversary coming up in a couple of years, there's no better time to get the ball rolling. Maybe she could even persuade Robert Pattinson to stop remaking Possession and get onboard in some way.

But while we wait for Stewart to get behind the camera for the Twilight renaissance, there's the other, more pressing matter of just where the hell isย Flesh of the Gods, the '80s-set vampire horror fromย Mandy director Panos Cosmatos that Stewart is set to star in alongside Oscar Isaac and Elizabeth Olsen. Last we heard,ย Flesh of the Gods is still looking for funding which is, quite frankly, a travesty. If aย Twilight remake can get Stewart the big bucks to fund that alone, it will be well worth it.

Look out for more on Stewart's potential return toย Twilight as we get it, and for more, here's all the monster movies coming this year that we're excited about.
