The wait is nearly over, Killing Floor fans. Eight years of waiting and we now only have a few more months to impatiently pace around as Killing Floor 3 is imminent. During this year's tenth annivesrsary edition of The Game Awards, a new trailer for the much-anticipated, ultra-violent shooter was revealed and, along with it, a March 2025 release date. Mark your calendars and plan accordingly. Maybe save up a couple of sick days, because this looks like itโs going to be a time suck. Check it out.
Tripwire first announced Killing Floor 3 at Gamescom last year. It was revealed with an impressive trailer and fans have been left to wait for more than a year since then, wondering when they can get their hands on the game. This latest trailer continues the trend of every shred of footage for this game looking absolutely awesome. Loaded with monsters, guns and buckets of blood, this looks like everything players could want from this franchise on current-gen consoles.
Even better news is that Tripwire also announced that players can sign up for the beta right now. So those who want to get in on the action as early as possible would do well to sign up. As for what to expect from the game more specifically? For one, thereโs going to be a major time jump from 2016โs Killing Floor 2. There will also be new playable characters and plenty of new features. The synopsis reads as follows:
โThe year is 2091, 70 years after the events in Killing Floor 2, and megacorp Horzine has produced the ultimate army: an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds. Now, the only thing standing between these infernal creations and the future of humanity is the rebel rogue group known as Nightfall. This intense first-person shooter puts players in the role of a Nightfall specialist, joining forces with up to five teammates as they battle through a war-ravaged, dystopian future, surviving unrelenting waves of Zeds, unlocking new skills, and building the ultimate arsenal.โ
The original Killing Floor was released in 2009. The first-person shooter gained an audience but it was Killing Floor 2 that rocketed the franchise to popularity. Despite being released eight years ago, the game remains rather popular – and with good reason. But itโs high time for an upgrade. That upgrade is just around the corner.
