After building up quite the impressive list of credits, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi is making his own scary movie. Deadline reports that the rapper turned actor is set to direct Wrong Number, which he will also star in alongside Faces of Death alum Barbie Ferreira.
Mescudi is directing from his own script alongside writing the film’s score. (Is that technically quadruple duty, then?) Wrong Number also stars Lucy Barrett, Dewayne Perkins, Clifton Powell, and Laura Harrier. The film’s description is as follows:
Wrong Number centers on Ibn (Mescudi), a lonely self-help author whose unexpected romance with a mysterious woman named Eliza (Ferreira) turns into a waking nightmare when he becomes the target of an unseen stalker and the prime suspect in a string of murders.

With production currently running in Los Angeles, Wrong Number is produced by Mescudi and Karina Manashil under their Mad Solar banner, along with Mark Webber, Anthony Baldino, and Ryan Lacen.
“A lot of people know that I’m a huge horror buff,” Mescudi said to Deadline. “And it was only a matter of time before I’d jump into the genre myself with my own stories. Wrong Number is a fun ride, an original story that has all the elements of an epic horror thriller, and I can’t wait for you all to experience it. So thankful to have this amazing cast and team with me on this wild journey. There will be blood!!”
Wrong Number is Mescudi’s second directorial effort after his debut with Doe, which is set to come out sometime next year, starring the rapper alongside Webber, Leah McNamara, Brandon Scott, and Brandon Perea.
“Directing my second film in a year is unreal,” Mescudi said. “I’m learning more and more each day and I’m just ready for the challenge. I’m hyped to see people become fans of my filmmaking in the same ways they are with my music. I’m putting the industry on notice, Mad Solar ‘bout to shake it up.”
No release date has been announced for Wrong Number. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
