One of the worst kept “secrets” in gaming has been confirmed. While it was hardly a secret, last year it was confirmed that Frontier Developments was developing a third Jurassic World video game. The company previously made Jurassic World Evolution and its sequel, Jurassic World Evolution 2. Many rightly assumed the follow-up would be the third entry in this park building series. Those assumptions have now been confirmed to be correct.

As pointed out on Reddit by user HeavyGold8, a full-time executive producer at Universal Pictures in charge of handling the Jurassic video game franchises confirmed on their Linkedin profile that the title of Frontier’s upcoming game is, indeed, Jurassic World Evolution 3. This confirms two things. One, that this is indeed another park builder and not something out of left field. It also confirms that they aren’t going to get cute with the title. In any event, there we have it!
For those who may not be familiar, Jurassic World Evolution was first released in 2020 and is essentially Zoo Tycoon, but with dinosaurs. Brian Collins, writing for Fango in 2022, argued that Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the best sequel in the franchise. For fans who ever dreamed of getting to put their stamp on an actual dinosaur theme park, it’s truly a treat. I myself have logged a ton of hours between both games and eagerly await the arrival of the third installment.
So, what do we know about the game otherwise at this point? Frankly, not too much. When Frontier first announced the project last year the company kept things pretty vague. Since they haven’t even announced a title or dropped a trailer, details are scarce. In a press release at the time, Jonny Watts, Chief Executive Officer at Frontier Developments, had this to say:
“We are delighted to reveal that we are developing a third Jurassic World game to extend our collaborative relationship with Universal Products & Experiences for our best-selling game franchise…Our Jurassic World Evolution game franchise has showcased great creative and technical expertise in CMS games and the strength of our select, develop, launch, and nurture strategy in the genre.”
The game is expected to release sometime later this year, likely to build off of presumed success of director Gareth Edwards’ apparently violent new movie Jurassic World Rebirth. It would make an awful lot of sense to keep the momentum going and, sad to say, it seems like the much-anticipated Jurassic Park: Survival is further off, likely not coming until 2026. So this is the more likely title coming our way later this year. I would bet my bottom dollar that a trailer and formal announcement will be coming sooner rather than later. Stay tuned.
