Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) are rolling out the red carpet and pointing the klieg lights at the silver screen’s greatest treasures starring in their summer blockbuster event Hollywood Legends, taking place live Thursday, June 19th, and Friday, June 20th in Los Angeles and online.
For those horror fans with deep pockets, particularly exciting items up for grabs among the 1,000 marquee pieces include an original production-made Rob Bottin-designed head prop used in John Carpenter’s The Thing from the personal collection of the sci-fi horror classic’s cinematographer Dean Cundey (plus a signed production-used final draft script and shooting schedules with notes), and an original concept map of the town of Twin Peaks, hand-drawn and signed by visionary filmmaker and co-creator David Lynch of the ground breaking mystery television series of the same name.
The auction also features items from the Estate of cult horror film director, Anthony Hickox with objects from his films Waxwork, Waxwork II: Lost in Time, Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat and at the centerpiece of the collection, an original production-used Puzzle Box prop from the 1992 horror film Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth.
Also on the slate if you've got the coin are an original hero machete prop as weilded by Kane Hodder's Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part VII, Dick Smith's customized makeup chair used on the set of The Exorcist, a custom-made life-size figure of David Howard Thorton as Art the Clown from Terrifier 2, and much more.
We haven't even scratched the surface of the non-horror stuff here either, but the Hollywood Legends event boasts items from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and more.
