In perhaps unsurprising but nonetheless exciting news, AMC's Interview with the Vampire has been renewed for a fourth season following that finale of The Vampire Lestat.
Stars Jacob Anderson, Eric Bogosian, Assad Zaman, Sheila Atim and executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch took to the stage at San Diego Comic Con this afternoon, announcing the news that the next season of Interview with the Vampire will be rebranded as Queen of the Damned, and will adapt Anne Rice's third novel in the Vampire Chronicles series of the same name.
The new season will, as the title suggests, focus heavily on the original vampire Akasha, portrayed by Atim in The Vampire Lestat. Check out the first teaser below:
With a new season comes a new show runner, as season 3 showrunner Rolin Jones will not be returning, but will serve as an executive producer on the new season. Moscovitch will now take over as showrunner.
In a new statement, AMC Global Media’s chief content office and president of AMC Studios Dan McDermot had the following to say of the crew reshuffle:
“In The Vampire Lestat, Mark, Rolin, Hannah and this extraordinary cast delivered an unforgettable season filled with propulsive storytelling that captivated the passionate and engaged fans of this franchise […] We can’t wait to continue the journey with Queen of the Damned, one of the most iconic stories in Anne Rice’s mythology, and watch our established and beloved characters confront Akasha with their world, and ours, very much hanging in the balance.”
Since premiering back in 2022, the Interview with the Vampire series has been a huge hit with fans and critics alike. Sam Reid's performance in The Vampire Lestat has garnered particular praise, not least because he seems to be genuinely possessed by the spirit of the titular vamp.
