The premiere of The Vampire Lestat (better known as Interview With the Vampire Season 3) is fast approaching, and after months of teasing, we can finally get our hands on the first single from the world’s only immortal rockstar. Ahead of the summer premiere of Season 3, AMC just dropped “Long Face,” sung by Lestat de Lioncourt himself.

“Long Face” is written by Daniel Hart, who composes all the music for Interview, and sung by star Sam Reid, whose immortal vampire Lestat has gone from pining French loverboy to all-out glam rock god. The music echoes the early sounds of David Bowie — post “Space Oddity” and pre “Let’s Dance” — with a guitar reminiscent of T. Rex’s “20th Century Boy,” evoking a very 1970s style and sound for the famous vamp going into the new season.

“Long Face is the first song I wrote for The Vampire Lestat,” Hart said. “We decided early on to make David Bowie a big influence for Lestat’s musical style and persona, and there’s certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this song. But we chose Bowie not only for his glam era, but because he was a chameleon. Expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as well, as he discovers how to remain true to himself, and how to express that truth on stage every night.”

The Vampire Lestat sees the return of not only Reid as Lestat, but fellow Interview stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Delainey Hayles, as well as new addition Jennifer Ehle. The season’s synopsis is as follows:

Resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller “Interview with the Vampire,” the Vampire Lestat (Sam Reid) sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can—by starting a band and going on tour. Gabriella. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.

The Vampire Lestat premieres this summer, and “Long Face” is available to stream wherever you get your music.
