Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) star inย Hold Your Breath, an upcoming horror-thriller premiering on Hulu on October 3, with Searchlight Pictures revealing first-look images today.

Hold Your Breath, the feature debut from writer-directors Will Joines and Karrie Crouse, also stars Amiah Miller (My Best Friendโ€™s Exorcism), Alona Jane Robbins (New Amsterdam) and Annaleigh Ashford (Welcome to Chippendales).

According to Deadline:

the film takes places amid the horrific dust storms of 1930s Oklahoma, watching as a woman (Paulson) is convinced that a sinister presence is threatening her family.

In an interview with People, Paulson revealed more about the horror at the heart ofย Hold Your Breath:

Mother-daughter connection is at the core of the story. It's not a slasher movie. It is really, at its core, an emotional story about a woman who is desperate to keep her children safe. The movie, the unraveling, takes us into a different space, but the reality, the foundational circumstance of the movie, is one of a real American horror. This idea that you couldn't even leave your home, and then even inside your home you couldn't prevent the dust from getting inside

Paulson also describes her performance as “a descent into madness” and “what happens when the spiral starts to unspool.โ€ Color us intrigued!

Hold Your Breath was produced by Alix Madigan (Winter's Bone) and Lucas Joaquin (Beasts of the Southern Wild).

Hold Your Breath will premiere exclusively on Hulu on October 3, and we'll bring you an official trailer when it drops. In the meantime, take a look at the first-look stills below:
