HELL OF A SUMMER: A Masked Murderer Wreaks Bloody Havoc In First Trailer For NEON Slasher

Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk's directorial debut hits theaters on April 18.

Following yesterday's poster reveal, Neon has today dropped the first trailer for Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk's summer camp slasher Hell of a Summer.

Starring Wolfhard, Bryk, Fred Hechinger (Gladiator II, Fear Street 1994), Dโ€™Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), Abby Quinn (Mad About You), and Pardis Saremi (Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem), Hell of a Summer follows:

[…] counselors who are getting Camp Pineway ready the night before campers arrive when a masked killer begins slaughtering the staff.

The film also stars Abby Quinn, Pardis Saremi, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Krista Nazaire, Matthew Finlan, Julia Lalonde, Daniel Gravelle, Julia Doyle, Susan Coyne, Rosebud Baker, and Adam Pally.

Previously, Wolfhard and Bryk confirmed that Hell of a Summer, which premiered at Toronto Film Festival in 2023, was partly inspired by a desire to upend Gen Z stereotypes:

โ€œOur No. 1 conversation was how annoying it is to see new teen movies and how badly our age group is represented [โ€ฆ] And weโ€™re like, โ€˜Why donโ€™t we just do it?โ€™โ€

Today's new trailer teases that Hell of a Summer is taking beats from the slasher greats, notably, of course, Friday the 13th with its masked mystery slasher.
