If you didn’t get a chance to see GHOST on their global Skeletour last year, never fear: you’ve got a chance to catch it on the big screen. The beloved band is bringing their newest concert film, GHOST: 2 Big to Rig, to theaters for a limited time beginning next month, and there’s a new trailer out to tease just what fans can witness as part of the band’s latest ritual.
Captured on 16mm film, the new film was shot over the course of two nights at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes, capturing the band performing some of their biggest hits to a crowd of nearly 40,000 people. 2 Big to Rig features both pro-shot footage of the concert itself, as well as behind the scenes interludes showcasing the crew that brings the band’s theatrical vision to reality.
Directed by Amir Juan Chamdin, GHOST: 2 Big to Rig is produced by GHOST frontman Tobias Forge, alongside Kristen Moldering, Rick Sales, Matilda E. Almeida, and Jessica Roulston. With tickets on sale now, the film will be presented in IMAX theaters where available, and treats audiences to performances of some of GHOST’s biggest hits like “Mary on a Cross” and “The Future Is a Foreign Land,” as well as other cuts from across their six album discography, including last year’s number one album Skeletá.
GHOST first rose to prominence in 2010 with their debut album Opus Eponymous, and gained much love in horror circles for their self-identified “demonic anti-pope” imagery, incorporating religious iconography in their costumes, stage sets, and music, as well as the anonymity of most of its members. They won a Grammy in 2016 for Best Metal Performance for their song “Cirice,” as well as an American Music Award for Favorite Rock Album in 2022 for their fifth album, Impera.
GHOST: 2 Big to Rig hits cinemas beginning on August 26.
