Weโ€™ve still got a pretty damn long wait for Five Nights at Freddyโ€™s 2 but the folks at Blumhouse decided to give fans a little something to chew on in the meantime. Fresh from Blumfest at New York Comic Con, weโ€™ve got the first poster for the sequel to last yearโ€™s smash hit adaptation of Scott Cawthonโ€™s beloved video games. More than just a poster, this one also comes with a pretty major character reveal, particularly for hardcare fans of the games. Check it out.

That guy lurking in the background is not Freddy Fazbear, who was one of the major animatronic characters from the first film. Rather, this is Toy Freddy, who was first introduced in 2014โ€™s Five Nights at Freddyโ€™s 2 video game. That, in many ways, seems fitting. As for who Toy Freddy is and why this is important? Iโ€™ll let the official Five Nights at Freddyโ€™s wiki do the talking there.

โ€œToy Freddy is a major antagonist and one of the toy animatronics of the Five Nights at Freddy's series, first appearing in Five Nights at Freddy's 2. He is Freddy Fazbear's redesigned counterpart from the past and an improved replacement of Freddy's pre-rebuilt incarnation Withered Freddy, serving as the mascot of the newly refurbished Freddy Fazbear's Pizza of 1987.โ€

Director Emma Tammi will begin filming the sequel very soon, so we should be learning more in the coming weeks/months. For the time being, plot details remain entirely under wraps. So all we can do is speculate. So, why donโ€™t we do just that? The second game not only introduced Toy Freddy, but the story of that game could provide clues as to where theyโ€™re going to take the story of the films as well. In the second gameโ€ฆ

โ€œIn Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the old and aging animatronics are joined by a new cast of characters. They are kid-friendly, updated with the latest in facial recognition technology, tied into local criminal databases, and promise to put on a safe and entertaining show for kids and grown-ups alike!โ€

Again, weโ€™re in full-on speculation territory here, but maybe someone is going to try and reopen Freddy Fazbearโ€™s Pizza. Maybe that will involve bringing in some new, updated animatronic mascots to freshen up the joint. Maybe those new animatronics will be even more evil than the ones weโ€™ve already met. They can only be so evil though, as Freddyโ€™s 2 will be sticking with a PG-13 rating. No R-rated shenanigans allowed.

The core human cast from the first film is expected to return for the second installment. This includes Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio and Matthew Lilllard. In all likelihood, this will just be the second entry in at least a trilogy, if not a longer franchise, given the success of the first film. Not to mention that there are more than a dozen games to pull from. So Toy Freddy could be just the beginning.
