With the pseudo-reboot right around the corner, Vinegar Syndrome has announced a new 4K UHD release of Faces of Death,  for those who like their gore extra crispy – and for the first time on home video, it's fully uncut.

John Alan Schwartz's notorious 1978 faux-snuff cult classic contained footage showing different gruesome ways of dying from a variety of sources, including parachute jumps, snake bites and more horrific scenes. While many of these were faked for the film, Faces of Death also included pre-existing video footage of real deaths and the gory, grisly aftermath.

Released as part of the Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era, Faces of Death is strictly limited to 5,000 units and includes a 40-page perfect bound book, plus a title sticker which may or may not be placed on the iconic cover. The disc itself includes a newly scanned and restored 4K restoration from the film's 35mm and 16mm original camera negative, with special features including never before seen outtakes, archival featurette, and “Many Faces of Death”, in which scholars and genre experts examine the controversial origins and lasting cultural impact of the legendary gorefest.

While Vinegar Syndrome states a standard release of Faces of Death might be available in the future, this version is surely soon to sell out and will undoubtedly be a must-have for collectors, so make sure you grab your copy here ASAP.
