NYCC Panel – Traction Park Massacre: How a terrifying NJ water park inspired this new indie horror film

17 Oct, 2024, 6:30pm – 7:30pm

In the 1980’s, a one-of-a-kind amusement and water park called ACTION PARK attracted thrill-seekers from across the New York metro area. The park lived up to its name given the sheer number of injuries due to poorly designed attractions, ride mishaps, and awful safety records. Worst yet, several people were known to have died as a result of ride accidents. For NY/NJ kids growing up in the 80’s, Action Park was a rite of passage. If you weren’t around to attend back in the day, chances are you know someone who did and they surely have stories to tell.

Action Park has served as creative inspiration for several documentaries and films including an upcoming horror movie from co-directors Adam Dubin and Doug diMonda titled TRACTION PARK MASSACRE. This old-school slasher flick is an audacious joy ride that brings together two groups of strong characters isolated in an abandoned amusement park called Action Wonderland which is now at the mercy of the Terror Twins, played by Kai and Bodhi (American Horror Story). The film will feature a soundtrack chock-full of classic metal and a bold 80’s inspired score from Alex Skolnick of the band Testament.

At this NYCC panel, we’ll relive Action Park and the scars, errrr impressions, it made with YOU plus a panel of specialists who lived to tell while debuting first looks from Traction Park Massacre where we’ll get introduced to the Terror Twins, the Death Loop, and so much more!
