How dedicated are you to your pets? We all love and cherish our furry friends, but would you be willing to ensure they literally live on after death? I donโt know if Iโd go that far, but the central couple in director Tim Cruzโs film Donโt Let the Cat Out definitely would โ and now, we finally have a release window, teasing when their murderous adventures will hit the big screen.ย
Starring Anthony Del Negro, Jordan James Smith and horror icon Cerina Vincent, the film focuses on Charlie, a housesitter expecting a quiet night of getting paid on Halloween whose night goes awry when heโs kidnapped. His captors intend to use his body as a vessel to resurrect their beloved cat, and itโs up to Charlie to figure out a way out.ย
โDonโt Let the Cat Out is a deeply personal exploration of grief, inspired by my own journey through loss and the initial refusal to face it,โ Cruz said in a statement. โShot over 16 intense nights in Louisville, Kentucky, this film delves into the psychological and supernatural consequences of unresolved grief through the character of Evelyn, who is unable to confront the impending loss of her beloved cats.
Through this film, I aim to evoke a sense of empathy and understanding in viewers, encouraging them to confront their own grief and find solace in the shared human experience of mourning. Donโt Let the Cat Out is a testament to the power of facing our deepest fears, the catharsis that comes with acceptance, and the surprising humor that can be found even in the darkest of times.โ
Donโt Let the Cat Out is produced by Shane OโBrien, Zach OโBrien, and Del Negro, who also wrote the filmโs script, based on his own experiences as a house sitter. The film had its world premiere at this yearโs Panic Fest, serving as a follow-up to Cruzโs film Ladybug, which hits VOD this month.ย
Donโt Let the Cat Out releases in January. Check out the trailer below:
