The horror icon will be your esteemed host for this year's FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards, celebrating the best in horror. The announcement was made during tonight's First In Fright panel at San Diego Comic Con.
Sawa was joined by members of the FANGORIA editorial team to discuss this year's ceremony. Attendees were treated to an exclusive first look at his upcoming Shudder project, Hell Motel: Murder at Red Mountain, and a preview of what fans can expect when the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards return to Shudder this fall.
This year's broadcast embraces a Halloween harvest theme, celebrating the season when horror truly comes home. In the spirit of reaping, the 2026 ceremony will honor the year's ‘scream of the crop’ while delivering a fan-first celebration.
“When you consider the likes of Final Destination, Idle Hands, the Chucky TV series, and beyond, it’s undeniable that Devon’s resume in genre is unimpeachable. He’s part of modern horror’s DNA,” said Michael Varrati, writer and director of the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards. “For an awards ceremony that also feels like one big Halloween party, you need someone who can be the ultimate Halloween party host. Devon’s history and love for all things fright more than prove that he’s the right person for this scary soiree.”
For more than 30 years, the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards have celebrated the year's most outstanding achievements across horror film, television, and gaming, with winners determined by votes cast by fans around the world.
