One of the UKโ€™s biggest horror film festivals returns next month, and theyโ€™ve got a hell of a lineup planned. Dead Northern Film Festival returns to the city of York in late September, taking over the City Screen Picturehouse for three-day of all things terrifying, including ten short film premieres, live events, cult classic screenings, attendance from genre legends, and more.

Highlights of this yearโ€™s program include the world premiere of A Motherโ€™s Recall, as well as the UK premieres of Hell House LLC: Lineage, Home Education, Sun, Nightfall: A Paranormal Investigation, and Tabula Rasa, and the Northern-made films He Kills at Night and The Beast of Riverside Hollow. The festival also features five specially curated shorts blocks, featuring titles like Twisted Tales, Flesh and Bone, and Spectres & Shadows

The festival will also be screening classic titles like Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddyโ€™s Revenge, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and Sam Raimiโ€™s first two Evil Dead films. Their Dead Talks program also returns this year, featuring events like Donโ€™t Call Me a Count, which dives into Draculaโ€™s mysterious connection to York, and a discussion on underrated horror sequels with Mike Muncer and Becky Darke.

โ€œWeโ€™re proud to bring Dead Northern back to York with our biggest and boldest line-up yet,โ€ says festival director Joshua Lawson. โ€œFrom world premieres and local talent to cult classics and cutting-edge shorts, weโ€™re packing three days with everything horror fans could dream of – and probably some things they couldnโ€™t!โ€

In addition to screenings, the festival will also feature a special marketplace featuring a den of dark delights, including vendors like Villains Rum, Deathly Tours, the Independent Horror Society, and a special FANGORIA booth!

Dead Northern Horror Film Festival runs from September 26 to 28 in York, and tickets, passes, and full program details are available now on their website.
