Meet The Victims Of DANGEROUS ANIMALS In New Posters

The aquatic serial killer film hits theaters next month.
Dangerous Animals

Summerโ€™s here, and if youโ€™re a frequent visitor to Amity Island at the movies, youโ€™ll know what that means: itโ€™s time for shark movies. Weโ€™ve got a brand new one hitting theaters soon in the form of Dangerous Animals, and now, the latest in a long line of killer shark movies has just dropped a new series of bone-chilling posters.

Directed by Sean Byrne, the aquatic horror film follows Zephyr (Hassie Harrison), a rebellious surfer, who finds herself caught in the clutches of Jai Courtneyโ€™s shark-obsessed killer. Captured on his boat โ€” which, based on the previously released trailer, doesnโ€™t seem that nice to begin with โ€” she must determine how to escape before she becomes a part of his ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.

The new posters name each of Courtneyโ€™s characterโ€™s victims, displaying pieces of hair โ€” brunette, blonde, black, and red โ€” tied around fishing hooks, and are accompanied by a final poster that simply reads โ€œall he needs is bait.โ€ While itโ€™s important to note that most sharks have no real interest in humans unless provoked, much less deadly ones โ€” thatโ€™s a myth perpetuated by Jaws and its many imitators โ€” Byrneโ€™s feature focuses not on the supposedly deadly aquatic creatures, but rather on the man obsessed with them, and these posters only serve to back that up. After all, who else would use humans as shark bait other than a serial killer?

Dangerous Animals is the latest in a long line of horror films that place sharks at their center. The aforementioned Jaws is obviously where everything started, but we canโ€™t forget titles like The Meg or Deep Blue Sea, which once again attribute a bloodlust for more than just pinnipeds and dolphins to the kings of the ocean.

The aquatic creature feature is Byrneโ€™s third horror film after The Loved Ones and The Devilโ€™s Candy, and his first film in a decade, which also stars Josh Heuston and comes from a script by Nick Lepard. Itโ€™s also being screened on the water by Alamo Drafthouse this summer, featuring a live Q&A with Byrne and Harrison at the Volente Beach Resort and Waterpark in Austin on May 31. Tickets for the screening are available now

Dangerous Animals hits theaters on June 6. Check out the new posters below:
