The Third Parent, an upcoming feature adaptation of the acclaimed Reddit creepypasta of the same name, has officially found its lead cast, with Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover and Roselyn Sanchez set to star, Deadline reports today.
Deadline also reveal that Bleecker Street has taken North American distribution rights, with a theatrical release planned.
The Third Parent marks the feature debut of writer/director David Michaels. Based on the story by Elias Witherow:
The feature take is set amidst the 4th of July celebration, as a disturbing figure named Tommy Taffy emerges. Disguised as a human, he infiltrates a suburban neighborhood and imposes authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting family.
In a statement, Bleeckerโs Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson expressed their excitement at the casting news:
โCrispin Gloverโs Tommy Taffy will be the next great horror villain […] With Garyโs incredible track record as a producer and Davidโs strong vision, anchored by Rob Lowe and Roselyn Sanchezโs compelling performances, we believe this will be a singular and terrifying theatrical experience.โ
The Third Parent will be produced by producer Gary Michael Walters' (Whiplash, Drive, Nightcrawler) recently launched Walters Media Group. Walters adds:
โI am so thrilled to be part of Bleecker Streetโs continued expansion into the horror space. Andrew and Kentโs support for this project has been phenomenal,โ
Known for his roles in Back to the Future,Wild at Heart, Willard and American Gods, anyone who's read The Third Parent (which you can do so here, with caution as it's a heavy and disturbing read) will know he's pretty perfect for the role as the unsettling, uncanny Tommy Taffy.
Look out for more on The Third Parent as we get it.
