In whatโs becoming an increasingly rare example of streaming films getting a special edition release. Shudderโs doing something special for fans of Clown in a Cornfield. Theyโve just announced that the slasher based on Adam Cesareโs novel of the same name is getting a 4K release next month, just in time for Halloween.
The 4K Ultra HD release will feature a special-edition steelbook, with an outer illustration of the villainous Frendo standing amongst the titular cornfields, with inner art featuring part of his reign of terror from the film. The physical release will also feature commentary from the filmmakers, as well as limited edition magnets, featuring a โPop Outโ Frendo and his various deadly weapons.
Directed by Eli Craig, who wrote the filmโs script with Carter Blanchard based on Cesareโs novel, Clown in a Cornfield stars Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand. The filmโs logline is as follows:
Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.
Clown in a Cornfieldโs new 4K steelbook retails for $39.99 USD, and is available for pre-order now ahead of its release date on September 9. Check out the steelbook art below:
