Brat superstar Charli xcx is currently successfully transitioning from music to movies, currently starring in The Moment, providing soundtrack for Wuthering Heights and, of course, having a role in the upcoming Faces of Death reboot. But what horror fans really want to hear more about is her mysterious upcoming horror project with Japanese genre auteur Takashi Miike (Audition, One Missed Call). While we still don't know a whole lot just yet, we do have an exciting update.
Speaking on an episode of the podcast SmartLess earlier this week, when she wasn't fending off oddly invasive questions about her plans for motherhood from co-host Jason Bateman, xcx teased that the untitled film (written byย How to Save a Marriage‘s Ross Evans) starts shooting later this year in Japan.
Plot, cast and even title details for the horror movie are still firmly under wraps, but if we can expect anything from Miike, it's a whole lot of blood, guts and gore, which Charli will surely be more than familiar with after her time shooting the upcoming Faces of Death remake.
As well as star, xcx will also produce through her newly-founded Studio365 banner.
The legendary Miike also has an upcoming remake of Abel Ferrara's Bad Lieutenant on his books, starring Shun Oguri (Godzilla v. Kong) and WWE star Liv Morgan, which NEON plan to release theatrically.
Look out for more on Untitled Miike/xcx Project as we get it, and for more, here's all the other horror movies coming in 2026 that we can't wait to watch.
