Paper Street Pictures has boarded sales on Blood Shine, an upcoming folk horror from husband-and-wife creative duo Emily Bennett and Justin Brooks.
Per Variety, who unveiled a first look at the film earlier today, Blood Shine takes place in upstate New York and follows Clara, played by Bennett (Shelby Oaks), described as a “religious zealot who worships light in lonely, sacred rituals.” David Call (Insidious: The Red Door) plays Brighton West, a horror filmmaker who tries to work on his script upstate when “a chance encounter with Clara leads him into an hallucinatory web of faith, flesh, and the sublime,” according to the logline.
Also starring in Blood Shine are Brendan Sexton III (Russian Doll), the Adams Family's Toby Poser (Hellbender, Where the Devil Roams) and horror legend Larry Fessenden.
Blood Shine follows Bennett and Brooks' debut feature, the Barbara Crampton-starring Alone With You, which won the pair the coveted Editor's Eyeball on the Future Award at the FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards back in 2023.
Brian Spears (Smile 2, American Horror Story) handled gore effects on Blood Shines, while Brooks also served as DoP.
Also behind the scenes, Blood Shine‘s producers include Alexander Schepsman, Garrett Fennelly, Zeus Kontoyannis via Zeus Pictures and Koontz via Paper Street Pictures. Ashleigh Snead and Cameron Burns are co-producers via Paper Street. Executive producers are Michael McFadden, G. Riley Mills and Matt Sullivan.
