As the Stephen King-based series floats closer to its October 26 premiere date, HBO Max has unveiled a new trailer for It: Welcome to Derry, giving us our clearest (and creepiest) look yet at star Bill Skarsgård (Nosferatu) returning to his role as the clown creature Pennywise.
Directed and lead by It‘s Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, with Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift) and Brad Caleb Kane (A24's upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake) serving as showrunners, It: Welcome to Derry serves as a prequel to King's 1986 novel and is based on interludes from protagonist Mike Hanlon. The series kicks off in 1962 as a lead-up to the events of the 2017 film It: Chapter One.
Starring alongside Skarsgård in the nine-episode first season are Taylour Paige (The Toxic Avenger), Jovan Adepo (Babylon, Watchmen), James Remar (Creepshow, Oppenheimer), Madeleine Stowe (Revenge) and Chris Chalk (Perry Mason, Godzilla vs. Kong), Alixandra Fuchs (Boogeyman Pop), Kimberly Guerrero (Reservation Dogs), Dorian Grey (Star Trek: Discovery), Thomas Mitchell (Spiral: From the Book of Saw), BJ Harrison (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Peter Outerbridge (Saw VI), Shane Marriott (Fargo), Chad Rook (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City), Joshua Odjick (The Long Walk), Rudy Mancuso (The Flash), and Morningstar Angeline (Echo).
As previously reported, It: Welcome to Derry is potentially planned as a three-season show, each of which would take place in a different era corresponding to the 27-year periods in which Pennywise wakes up to devour the children of Derry.
