Fresh off demolishing the box office earlier this month, Kane Parson's Backrooms is returning to theaters with an added surprise,
From A24's youngest ever director (19 at the start of production), Backrooms, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve, racked up an incredible $330 million at the global box office off a budget of $10 million. Based on a viral series of found-footage videos from Parsons, themselves inspired by a 4chan creepypasta, Backrooms follows a furniture store owner and his therapist who discover a dimension of seemingly endless liminal spaces accessed through the store's basement.
Officially billed as Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition, AMC's official site has re-listed the surreal horror pic with “theatrically exclusive” post-credit additional footage. Screenings start on July 3, which almost certainly means Backrooms, already one of the most financially successful films of 2026, is set to make another killing over the July 4 weekend.
Thanks to Backrooms‘ success, a sequel is pretty much all but guaranteed. Perhaps the additional footage added to the original will set the stage for a brand new story? There's only one way to find out – get your tickets for Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition right here.
