Curry Barker, the filmmaker behind last year's viral found-footage creepshowย Milk & Serial, has had his his newly-announced featureย Anything But Ghosts snapped up for production by Blumhouseโs Jason Blum and Spooky Picturesโ Roy Lee and Steven Schneider (Late Night with the Devil, Strange Darling).
The news comes hot on the heels of the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Barker's debut feature,ย Obsession, which premieres Friday as part of the genre-focused Midnight Madness section.
Inย Anything But Ghosts, Barker will direct and star, and co-wrote the script with creative partner Cooper Tomlinson, who will also star. No news yet of plot or further casting details.
Image Nation and Barker's own sketch channel Thatโs a Bad Idea will also backย Anything But Ghosts, which The Hollywood Reporter note is the first collaboration between horror powerhouses Blum and Lee (who already has a 2025 horror hit under his belt with Zach Cregger's Weapons). Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer will also produce.
Shot for just $800, Barker'sย Milk & Serial has amassed more than 2 million views since it was uploaded to YouTube in 2024. The 62-minute pic follows the fallout of a surprise birthday prank gone wrong, and a popular social media duo who must face the reality of the terrifying aftermath. Barker'sย Obsession, which stars Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette, centers on a hopeless romantic who makes a wish that his long-time crush falls in love with him, and a sinister enchantment ensues.
