Shortwave Publishing and Rapture Publishing are getting into horror, and they’ve tapped one of the genre’s most interesting working authors to do it. FANGORIA is excited to help announce the first title from their new imprint Rapture Trade: Ammonite, written by Bram Stoker Award-nominated author Gemma Amor.
Known for novels like Itch! and The Folly, Amor is the first author to be published under the new imprint, bringing to life a part of the English coastline hiding a dark secret. Ammonite’s synopsis is as follows:
Taking place on a remote beach along a stretch of shoreline known as the Jurassic Coast, a lonely, unassuming fossil hunter discovers the freshly deceased body of a modern woman encased deep in the heart of a two-hundred-million-year-old ammonite fossil. Strange events begin to unfold immediately after the grisly, impossible discovery.
Told as a spiraling first-person account to a mysterious, unnamed stranger who also finds his way to the beach, the story blurs the lines between reality and fiction, past and present, possible and impossible — leaving us wondering is the truth worth hunting down as diligently as the elusive, perfect ammonite specimen our narrator has sought for so long?
