With Obsession creating such massive waves with horror fans this year, it’s no surprise that other studios are chasing after similar stories. One of those is American Dollhouse, which has just been acquired by popular genre label Dark Sky Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Written and directed by John Valley, American Dollhouse follows a woman named who finds herself stalked by a neighbor after inheriting the home she grew up in, watching as his obsession with her turns increasingly violent. The film stars Hailley Lauren as Sarah, alongside Kelsey Pribilski, Tinus Seaux, Danielle Evon Ploeger, and Richard C. Jones.

“I wanted to create a story that deconstructs the false narratives we tell ourselves about ‘home’ and ‘family,’ all within the context of a blood-soaked genre film,” Valley said to THR. “Bringing American Dollhouse to audiences with Dark Sky Films is an incredible opportunity to share this nightmare of a ride with horror fans across North America.”
American Dollhouse had its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Festival, before also showing at festivals like Telluride, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, and Overlook Film Festival. Set for a release sometime in January, the film is produced by David Axe, Samuel Butler, Shane Greb, Christian Sosa, and Jon Wroblewski.
“John Valley is a new voice in horror whose talent and vision immediately caught our attention,” said Dark Sky’s Greg Newman to THR.
An exact release date has not been set for American Dollhouse. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
